Predestination and Evangelism

Asher Chee |

God has predestined people for salvation in Jesus Christ. Does this mean that we do not need to share the Gospel with people? Of course not!

Firstly, the Bible teaches that Christians should share the Gospel with all kinds of people (Matt. 28:19–20; Luk. 24:47; Acts 1:8). Therefore, no matter what we believe about God’s predestination, we must share the Gospel with people in obedience to God.

We do not know how exactly God predestines people for salvation. Nonetheless, we know that God normally uses the hearing of the Gospel (Rom. 10:14). Hence, in most cases, if God has predestined that a person will be saved, then he has also predestined that this person will hear the Gospel and respond by believing in Jesus.

It is not our business to know which persons God has predestined for salvation, since God has not revealed it to us. Yet, our responsibility is to share the Gospel with all people. When we share the Gospel with a person, and he believes in Jesus, then God has used us as part of his journey to salvation. What a privilege!
