God Does Not Contradict Himself Because He Does Not Lie
Asher Chee |Numbers 23:19 God is not a man that he should lie,
and [neither is he] a son of a man, that he should repent (change his mind).
Has he said, but will not do?
And [has he] spoken, but will not establish?
Titus 1:2 upon hope of eternal life which the unlying God promised before times of ages.
Hebrews 6:18 so that, through two unchangeable actions, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we would have strong encouragement, who have fled to hold on to the hope which is set before [us].
Numbers 23:19, Titus 1:2 and Hebrews 6:18 are well-known, commonly-cited verses which state the fact that God does not lie. To many Christians, this simply means that everything that God says is true. However, notice how each these verses go further to make an important application: Because God does not lie, then he can be trusted to definitely do according as he has spoken.
God’s faithfulness is predicated upon his consistency. The only way we can trust God to be faithful is if he would never speak or act contrary to what he has previously revealed. f God says something at one time, and then contradicts himself at another time, then we face a problem: Since two contradictory things cannot both be true, then one of the things that God said was a lie.
Therefore, if we say that God has done or spoken contrary to something he had previously spoken, then we would be calling him a liar. But the truth is that God always speaks the truth. He cannot speak any less truthfully in one instance than in another. Therefore, every single thing that God says is completely consistent with each other.
